Sales Tax Management
We calculate, track, and file your sales tax so you stay compliant with state and local requirements. You collect the tax and we handle the rest.
What This Is
Sales tax management covers everything that happens after you collect tax from your customers. We calculate what you owe, reconcile it against what you collected, and file the returns with the appropriate agencies on your behalf.
Arizona calls it Transaction Privilege Tax rather than sales tax, but the obligation is the same. You collect money from customers that belongs to the government, and that money needs to be reported and remitted correctly. We make sure it is.
Tracking and Calculation
Tracking and Calculation
We pull your sales data each period and break it down by taxing jurisdiction. Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, and every other city in the valley has different rates. We apply the right rate to the right transactions and reconcile against what you actually collected.
Filing and Remittance
Filing and Remittance
We prepare and submit your TPT returns through the Arizona Department of Revenue portal. Payments go out on time. You get copies of everything filed. If there are credits or adjustments from prior periods, we handle those too.
Why It Matters
Sales tax is not your money. The cash sitting in your account between collection and remittance belongs to the state. Spending it, losing track of it, or filing late creates real liability that compounds quickly with penalties and interest.
Arizona’s TPT system adds complexity because each city administers its own rates on top of the state rate. A business selling in multiple locations or shipping to different jurisdictions can easily end up with a dozen different rates to track and report separately.
Multi-Jurisdiction Complexity
Multi-Jurisdiction Complexity
Scottsdale charges 1.75% on top of the state rate. Phoenix charges 2.3%. Tempe charges 1.8%. If you have customers or job sites across the valley, you need to apply the correct rate for each transaction. Getting it wrong means either shortchanging the taxing authority or overcharging your customers.
Penalty Exposure
Penalty Exposure
Late filings trigger penalties that start at 4.5% of the tax due and increase from there. Interest accrues daily. The state can also assess penalties for underpayment even if you filed on time. These costs add up fast and come straight out of your profit.
What Changes
Sales tax stops being something you worry about. The deadline approaches, the return gets filed, and the payment goes out without you having to remember or do anything. You get a summary showing what was remitted and that is the extent of your involvement.
When rates change or new jurisdictions become relevant to your business, we adjust the calculations automatically. You do not have to monitor tax law updates or figure out how they apply to your situation. That becomes our responsibility.
No Missed Deadlines
No Missed Deadlines
Returns get filed before the due date every period. No scrambling at the last minute. No penalties for forgetting. No interest charges for late payments. The entire process runs on a schedule that does not depend on you remembering to do anything.
Clean Records
Clean Records
Every filing gets documented and saved. If the state ever questions a return or requests documentation, you have records going back as far as we have worked together. Audit support becomes straightforward because the paperwork already exists and is organized.
